UPDATES/NEWS Starting from the beginning of the year, I’ve continued to write, record, perform and produce music, though mainly in SoCal. One of my projects has taken off and ultimately pulled my attention to their works as I have be touring, performing and promoting him. Colin Clyne hails from Scotland and has recorded and released his debut EP, Songs From The Cold Store, on my record label Starving Dog Records. Since the soft launch of SFTCS in February Colin has been touring both the West coast of the US and the UK. Colin and I recently returned from a well received tour of Scotland and London, where we finished with near capacity shows in Aberdeen, Glasgow and three solid performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. For those of you not familiar with the Fringe Festival, it is the relative equivalent to the Sundance Film Festival here in the states, only larger. Needless to say coming back to the states we are humbled by the experience and are excited for the future. Simultaneously, while we were garnering attention overseas, we launched a college radio campaign. The focus of this campaign was “College/Non-Commercial Radio” on a national level. We sent the CD to stations that report to the College/Non-Commercial/CMJ market - the objective being to get the word out on the CD, get the CD charted on as many station charts possible, as well as get feedback from as many stations as possible. There were approximately 350 stations serviced for that throughout the US and Canada. The campaign went well and here are the highlights: East coast tour dates are now being added followed by a pass through the Midwest and a return to the West coast scheduled for after the holidays as February will mark the 12-month spot for touring. In addition to all this good buzz, Colin has been nominated in the Best New Acoustic Act category for the San Diego HAT awards!! The awards show will take place this Saturday, October 27th at The Normal Heights Community Center at 7:00 PM. We thank all of you who took the time to vote for Colin online. I would love to have another trophy in my case and this young man has worked his ass off and he’s certainly worthy of the honor. Colin will also be presenting The Best Backup Musician trophy at the awards show. Let me know how you are doing and stay tuned for my new release of new material. Best to you all. |
